1.Who we are

Megaplates is the controller of your personal information.

2.What we collect

When you buy a registration:

• Your name, email address, phone number and postal address.
• Details of your order, including the registration you bought and the price.
• The name the certificate should be issued in, which we give to the DVLA.

When you contact us: your messages and any details you include, whether by email or Instagram.

When you send us photos or reviews: the photo or review, and your name or Instagram handle if we show them.

When you pay: payments are handled by Stripe, and by Klarna if you choose to pay with Klarna. We receive confirmation of your payment, but we never see your full card details.

3.How we use it

• To process your order and your DVLA transfer, and to post your certificate. This is necessary to carry out our contract with you.
• To answer your questions and give you support. This is necessary for our contract with you, or in our legitimate interest of looking after our customers.
• To keep records for tax and accounting. We are legally required to do this.
• To prevent fraud and keep our website secure. This is in our legitimate interests.
• To show your car photo or review on our website or Instagram. We only do this with your permission, and you can withdraw it at any time.

We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing emails.

4.Who we share it with

We only share your information where we need to:

• The DVLA, to transfer the registration into your name.
• Royal Mail, to deliver your certificate.
• Stripe, which processes card payments.
• Klarna, if you choose to pay with Klarna. Klarna uses your information under its own privacy notice, including for credit checks.
• The companies that run our website, database and email, such as our hosting provider and email provider. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
• Our accountant, and authorities such as HMRC or the police if we are legally required to share it.

5.Transfers outside the UK

Some of the companies we use may store or process information outside the UK. When they do, we make sure it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law. These include UK adequacy regulations or the UK's approved data transfer agreements.

6.How long we keep it

• Order and payment records: 6 years, for tax and accounting.
• Messages: up to 2 years after we last speak to you.
• Photos and reviews we show: until you ask us to remove them.

7.Cookies and our website

Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics.

To display our fonts, your browser connects to Google Fonts, which receives your IP address. When you pay, Stripe and Klarna may use cookies that are needed for security and fraud prevention.

8.Your rights

You have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
• Ask us to delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law.
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information.
• Ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere.
• Withdraw your permission at any time, where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email megaplates@outlook.com. We will reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

9.Children

Our website and services are for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information about children.

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
